Why Epee Fencing 101?

You might be wondering: Why this site? What makes this different from the other fencing forums out there? I've been thinking about this myself as I spend my break creating the foundations of Epee Fencing 101. Other sites, such as TheFencingCoach, are definitely useful resources. I eagerly read new posts there whenever they come out. The content is accurate, helpful, and engaging. However, like most of the other pages I've seen, it is not focused on epee. Sure, it is interesting to see how the top foilists are doing (which, by the way, is very well. Go USA!) It is entertaining to see 'sabreurs' apparently try to kill each other with their blades. But all I, as a fencer, really care about is epee. Spare me the Russian Box of Death news and just let me see pure, unadulterated epee.

Another difference I see is that analysis of recent videos is in short supply. TheFencingCoach has a very good series of analysis posts. I believe the difference between Epee Fencing 101 and TheFencingCoach is the detail of analysis. Touch-by-touch analysis, in my mind, provides greater insight into the mind and technique of top-level fencers. In turn, readers will hopefully be able to learn new actions and fencing styles when the bout is broken down. Again, I am not criticizing TheFencingCoach in any capacity. I am just asserting that there is a difference in the style of analysis.

There are a few other reasons why this site is different, but if you have read all the way to here, I don't think you need to be subject to any more persuasion :)
